Why Recycle?
There are moments when you should say farewell to your old bicycle, whether your chain is rusty or your frame is bent. However, how does one get rid of a bicycle?
Bicycles are constructed of metal, rubber, and cables, which may be easily repaired or recycled if they break. Instead of throwing away old trikes, bicycles, and alternative transportation equipment, try repairing or recycling them. This should give the items a new purpose and prevent them from taking up valuable landfill space.

How Do You Get Rid of Old Bikes?
There are a few options for getting rid of old bicycles. If your bike is in good working order or can be easily fixed, consider donating it to a church, thrift store, or a friend who needs a bike. You could even donate your broken bike for other parts that you need.
Can You Recycles Old Bicycles?
Bicycles can be recycled, yes! Consider the state of your bike before taking it to a recycling center. Donating it is the greatest option if it is still in a good condition or it may be easily repaired. Even if it can’t be entirely fixed, it could be used as a source of parts for other bikes. It’s always a good idea to see whether your bike can be repaired or used before sending it to be recycled.
Getting Rid of Specific Bike Parts
Almost every part of your bike can be recycled when it reaches the end of its life cycle. Bicycle chains, frames, and brake pads are constructed of metal and rubber and can be removed, broken down, and reassembled to create entirely new products. Even old bicycle parts can be repurposed and reassembled to create new bicycles! Check with your local recycling center to determine if they recycle bicycles, as not all of them are suited to do so.
Bicycle Recycling:
Because a bicycle is almost entirely recyclable, dumping it in a landfill is not an option. Here are some ideas for how to recycle it:
One
Scrap material from the bike, such as titanium, aluminum, steel, and carbon fiber, can be melted down and recycled. These parts can be recycled as long as they are not severely rusted or damaged.
Two
A complete bicycle frame can be reused if it is in good condition. The frame can be reconditioned and reused in a new bike, so there’s no need to melt the metal.
Three
If they are in good shape, bicycle chains can be reused in newer products. The manufacturer simply cleans the chain, inspects it for any damages or flaws, and then re-uses it. Additionally, if donating a bike to goodwill isn’t a possibility, recycling is the next best option. Contact EZ CleanUp if you want to recycle your bicycle.
